A Message to Our Supporters
First Tee – Coastal Carolinas, which has delivered life and golf skills to young people for nearly 20 years, has suspended operations for an indefinite period of time. The suspension was prompted by operating and fundraising challenges that will be addressed going forward.
First Tee – Coastal Carolinas was formed in 2017 by the merger of three legacy First Tee chapters in Brunswick County, the Grand Strand in the Myrtle Beach area, and Eastern North Carolina, each of which has existed for a number of years. During that time, the organizations touched the lives of thousands of young people with its curriculum of values, life skills and golf.
While operations are suspended for an indefinite period, the organization’s Board of Directors will work with donors, volunteers and partners to consider new operating models and fundraising sources, including the sale of the organization’s real estate assets in Brunswick County.
On behalf of the First Tee – Coastal Carolinas Board of Directors and First Tee’s national headquarters, we want to sincerely thank the community of children, parents, coaches and volunteers who have supported the organization, providing a positive impact on the young people it reached.
Meanwhile, First Tee programming will continue to be offered in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties in South Carolina (First Tee – Greater Charleston) and in New Hanover, Pender and Duplin counties in North Carolina (First Tee – Greater Wilmington).
