What we are up to!
Luke is still very much involved with the First Tee locally and nationally. This past summer he was selected to chaperone and mentor younger participants at the 2023 First Tee Leadership Summit in Montana. At the week-long summit he helped nationally recognized First Tee coaches and professionals facilitate multiple leadership workshops for the 25 participants selected to attend the event. Luke also continues to be involved with the First Tee of Coastal Carolinas often volunteering at fundraiser golf tournaments and speaking at events or just dropping by the office to say hello and catch up with the staff. Luke is currently a senior at East Carolina University majoring in Public Health with a pre-medical concentration. In his free time, he leads a bible study within his fraternity and serves on the school’s Interfraternity Council. Luke recently spent the summer in Spain learning Spanish and returned home to study for the MCAT. He has plans to attend medical school in the coming years with hopes of becoming a reconstructive plastic surgeon.

Julie is a junior studying engineering with a mechanical concentration at Campbell University. Campbell’s engineering program is an immersive, hands-on program that has received full accreditation. She was awarded the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarship through the Department of Defense and plans to begin her engineering career with NAVAIR working at the Fleet Readiness Center East in Cherry Point, NC.
Playing on the golf team has added additional requirements outside of her classroom workload. The team has workouts three mornings a week, practice every afternoon, and 18-hole practice rounds and/or qualifying rounds every weekend. The team is very competitive yet still close knit. They get along well and always support one another through their successes, disappointments, and even injuries. The team has won six consecutive Big South Conference championships.
In her freshman design engineering class, she was part of a team that was tasked with designing, prototyping, and formally presenting a device that could be used to solve a problem seen in everyday life. A recent injury to one of her golf teammates gave her the idea to create an inflatable brace used to support and rehab an injured arm. This design project ultimately merged both her engineering and golf worlds. Paperwork for the final design was submitted to the school for a patent.

Hi my name is Jack Boldt. I started my involvement with First Tee when I was 6 years old. Over my career with the First Tee of Coastal Carolinas I developed into the person and golfer I am today. During my time I helped to start Buddy Tee, a program that teaches golf and life skills to special needs youth. Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend multiple national leadership opportunities and the PURE Insurance Championship. I carried the First Tee’s nine core values to North Carolina State University where I am studying Animal Science and plan to start a career in Animal Health.

I was involved in the First Tee program my junior and senior year of high school. The program taught me a lot about the fundamental golf skills and techniques, but it also taught me several other rewarding things that I will forever be thankful for. The First Tee program allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone and interact with individuals that I did not know. I learned how to understand and manage my emotions during the program. The First Tee program also taught me how to set goals and plan for the future. These skills will stay with me for life. I was fortunate to participate in the Leadership Academy in Myrtle Beach, SC, and I would recommend that to others. It was rewarding and fun. During this time, I improved my public speaking skills and interacted with people that I would normally not have met.
I am currently attending Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC. I am majoring in information technology and network management. I will receive my Associates Degree upon graduation. After graduation, I plan to attend East Carolina University to receive my bachelor’s degree in information technology.
This fall, I have assisted the Pamlico County High School women’s golf team as needed as a volunteer coach. In my spare time, I continue to play golf with my family. My youngest sister is joining the First Tee family.

I started the First Tee program in 2016. During my time in the program, I learned many different life skills that I continue to use to this day. I am so grateful for the support and love that was shown to me in the first tee program. I have learned that the program is not just about golf, but it is also about growing and becoming a better person. Currently, I am studying exercise science(premedical) , and Spanish (minor) at the University of South Carolina. Right now I work as a caregiver for clients who need extra help doing their daily activities. This gives me the opportunity to be able to assist others and make their lives slightly easier. After college I plan to pursue my masters in medical studies, and when finished I would like to attend medical school. My end goal is to become a trauma surgeon. I know I am not on an easy path, but I am excited to continue my journey into the health field.

Since leaving the First Tee program during high school, Dana attended Worchester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts and obtained a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering. Dana still plays golf recreationally.
Dana attended the Leadership Academy during Middle School.
She currently lives in Massachusetts and plans on becoming a First Tee volunteer in the future.

He was a member of the Inaugural Teen Council.
James is responsible for designing the Teen Council logo, which hangs in the Teen Center at the PGA Superstore in Myrtle Beach.
